Masterclass in Sleep Apnoea

This masterclass is aimed at primary and secondary care team members wishing to understand the nature and impact of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). The differences between OSA and snoring, the impact on health and normal daily life will be emphasised. The currently available techniques for diagnosis and treatment ranging from conservative measures through appliances to surgery will be covered.

Educational aims and objectives

At the completion of the course attendees will:

  • Be aware of the nature of OSA and the differences between OSA and snoring
  • Understand the process for establishing a diagnosis
  • Be aware of the range of treatments available and their various risks, costs and benefits
  • Be able to discuss rationally the need for these services within a commissioning environment.

This masterclass will attract 5 hours of verifiable CPD.
